Will the zoo be opened to the public?
Yes, doors close at 5:00pm and all non-wedding guests are out by 6:00pm.
Will we get to see the whole zoo?
Yes, there will be about an hour and a half between the ceremony and reception to explore the entire zoo. Or, you can come early and explore as much as you want before the ceremony starts. Your ticket admits you anytime on August 23rd. After the zoo is closed at 6:00pm, we will still have access to the whole zoo grounds. Some of the interior buildings may close, and some of the animals will have the option of going indoors, but you will be able to wander anywhere!
What if it rains?
Then you should bring your umbrella, because we will be outside, rain or shine! The reception is tented, so there will be some shelter. Be prepared for cooler temperatures at night as well.
Can we bring the kids?
Yes, the more kids the better! There is even a fenced-in playground right next to the tent!
Is there parking?
Yes, guests can park in the zoo parking lot for free. The gate will be open after the zoo is closed, and you will be able to exit without paying any fee. There is additional parking in the park bordering the zoo.
Will I have a place to smoke?
If you need to smoke, you will have to exit the zoo and cross the street into Delaware Park.
Where will the hotel shuttle drop us off and pick us up?
The shuttle will drop you off at the main gate by the parking lot, but pick you up in the back by the reception tent at Gate 9.
Where is the ceremony going to be?
We will be in the alcove by the lions and tigers. There will be limited seating, some guests will have to stand.
What’s for dinner?
Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm. We are having a picnic-style buffet with all your favorite summer foods! There will be vegan and gluten-free options. There is various seating in the reception area, like picnic-tables, benches, and standing tables. Or take your meal and enjoy it while strolling the zoo!
Can I steal a monkey?
No, Brad.
Will Caitlin be riding in on an elephant?
No, Matt.
What should we wear?
Attire can be what you wear to any wedding, but keep in mind we will be outdoors for all of it. Also, ladies, the tent is on grass and the ceremony is on cobblestone sidewalk, so maybe no stilettos!
When does the reception end?
We’ll be dancing until midnight!
Will the zoo be dark at night?
Yes, most of the zoo will be quite dark at night. The tent is lighted, and there will be a golf cart to bring any uneasy guests back to their car. Other guests may want to bring a flashlight for easier walking or late night exploring!
What if we arrive late?
If it is past 5:00pm, the main zoo entrance will be closed, so you will need to come to the back of the zoo by the park. Gate 9 will be open all night.
What we if we need to leave early?
You can always exit the main turnstile by the parking lot.
Can we reenter if we exit the zoo?
Once you exit the turnstile at the zoo entrance, you won’t be able to re-enter there after 5:00pm. Re-entry will only be possible at Gate 9, by the food tent.
Are the bathrooms close by?
Yes, there are full restrooms right next to the reception area.
